Fashion Hints and Ideas for the Mother of the Bride

The mothers of both the groom and bride play very important roles in most modern weddings. Many mothers assist in the organising and planning, some make speeches at the wedding reception, and some even walk their daughters down the aisle, so it is essential that they look their very best on such a special occasion, and feel fantastic too! Here are a few tips to help you and your Mother prepare for a memorable wedding.

"Mother of the Bride" fashion can be conservative and often dowdy, but it doesn't have to be! Encourage your mother to think outside the box and visit small boutiques to find something original and unique.  Glamour and Glitz in Befordview does beautiful mother of the bride dresses.

Large department stores normally have all the classic ranges, but there is always a good chance that another wedding guest may turn up wearing the same thing, which can be awfully embarrassing! Depending on your budget, your mother could also have something special made to measure, to complement the colours and theme of the wedding day.

A good tip for mothers is to avoid wearing busy or loud prints, as they will date quickly and will appear very old-fashioned in a few years when looking back at the wedding album. Good quality fabrics in solid colours that suits your complexion, personality and style work best, accented with a great contrast colour.

Accessories such as hats, hats, gloves, jewellery, wraps, scarves, shoes and handbags can create a striking, distinctive look and can transform an older outfit into a modern one. Try to source unique hand-made accessories from a variety of locations to mix and match a creative new look.

Layering is a very practical way to keep an outfit versatile and adaptable for a special occasion. Start with a short sleeved outfit, then a hat for the afternoon (to be removed before the wedding reception), add a jacket or cardigan and a pretty silk scarf around the neck, some great new shoes and a matching bag, a stunning necklace or dangling earrings, and there you have it!
